BUGSY MALONE, 3rd-5th February 2010

Reproducing scenes from the original film was particularly daunting. As in the film, the “non-violent” gang war was fought with “splurge guns” which in our case spewed forth fake snow instead of bullets.
During the four months of rehearsals, the students showed an impressive level of maturity, flexibility and perseverance. There is clearly a great deal of dancing, singing and acting talent amongst Larkmead students and all staff involved enjoyed seeing students develop on a personal and a professional level.

The Saturday work parties were also well attended (despite rescheduling due to snow!) with a team of 30 students, parents and staff helping to create props, set and costumes and the results achieved in this time were impressive.

The show week began with a matinee performance to primary school students, who seemed to thoroughly enjoy the comedy aspects of the show. Performances then took place Wednesday to Friday to appreciative audiences, with Thursday and Friday nights selling out! Buy your tickets early next year!!!

The final performance represented the talents and hard work of a whole team of students, staff and parents, both on stage and behind the scenes. The set, the costumes, the hair, the make-up, the props, the lighting, the sound, the orchestra, the crew all came together to make the production a success.
